Designed by scaffolders. Verified by engineers.

Most scaffold is designed from drawings. Ours starts with someone standing on the site.

Why the order matters

An engineer working from blueprints can tell you the scaffold will stand up. Only a scaffolder standing on site can tell you whether it will work.

Where the gangway lands. Which tie-ins are actually available on the structure in front of you rather than the one in the drawing. Which trades need to be inside the scaffold at the same time, and for how long. Where the material lands and who has to walk past it. None of that is visible on a plan, and all of it decides whether the scaffold helps the job or fights it.

So we do it the other way around. An advanced scaffolder assesses the site first and designs to what is there. The engineer then verifies the design to code. Combining the two avoids the problems that only appear once the scaffold is up, which is the most expensive moment to find them.

Step 01

Site assessment

An advanced scaffolder attends the site. Access points, hazards, ground and bearing conditions, and the workflow of every trade that has to work within the scaffold.

Step 02

Designed in house

Designed by experienced scaffolders who have built this kind of job before, against what the site assessment found rather than against a template.

Step 03

Engineered to code

Verified by competent structural and temporary-works engineers, compliant with the relevant regulations, minimising your risk of incidents or regulatory fines.

Elevation drawing for vessel scaffold
Design in practice2022

MV Soufrana Tourville

Vessel access drawn in elevation before mobilisation. The drawing is the step most scaffolders skip on marine work, and it is the reason the scaffold fits the first time rather than being adjusted on the deck.

Needs Chris: what the constraint was, what was designed, and what it saved. This is the strongest proof point QSS has and it currently exists only as a photo.

What it changes

Cheaper, because it fits

A scaffold designed around the job needs fewer changes once it is standing, blocks fewer trades, and comes down when the program says it should. That is where the cost actually sits, not in the rate.
